One of our more rarely seen offerings, the Apsley Boot takes its inspiration from an early 20th century hiking boot pattern. We've made this version out of Horween's Natural Waxed Flesh leather which mimics the the heavily greased roughout found on early military issue footwear. The combination of this robust leather with a Commando Sole and Naildown construction make this a heavy-duty boot option perfect for the coming months. While we are constantly experimenting with new patterns and unique materials, we always find ourselves coming back to the classics. A simple brown lace up boot is possibly the most versatile piece of footwear anyone can own and it always gets better with wear. In the pursuit of perfecting this style we have offered the Service Boot in over 25 variations of brown leathers in the past four years, ranging from tan to coffee coloured hides in everything from reindeer to kangaroo. With that being said this vegetable tanned Calfskin from an artisanal Italian tannery might just be our best version yet. This is a high character leather that will dull with wear, but can always be polished to restore its original shine. Click through for the full feature and purchase the Service Boot Brown Calf here.
The Chelsea boot, which is characterized by its elastic side panel, is a unisex style which dates back to the mid-1800s. It would later become an iconic symbol of British culture in the 1950s and 60s, with strong associations to the mod scene. Our version features a wholecut upper and a custom last inspired by a traditional Argentinian riding boot. For the debut of this new pattern on Viberg.com we choose a heavyweight British suede in a milky, offwhite tone. Click through for the full feature.
The Derby Boot is a simplified reinterpretation of our Service Boot pattern. We removed the counter panel and replaced it with a narrow backstay. The seams of the quarters feature French Binding for the first time on a Viberg product. This is a classic lace-up ankle boot in it's most essential form. To celebrate the launch of this new style we worked with Horween Leather Company to bring in a very special version of their Genuine Shell Cordovan. Unglazed Shell is processed right up until the point where it would normally receive dye, glazing and plating. In this state the Shell has a softer surface feel and a matte finish. Customers have the option of leaving the Shell untreated, allowing for an accelerated patina, or applying a polish for a more traditional finish. Click through for the whole feature.
