In the late 1960s we began producing several pull-on Western style boots in response to market demand. This was also our first foray into Goodyear Welt construction. By the late 1970s we had discontinued most of these styles and shifted our focus towards our industrial logging boots. Taking inspiration from this period in our history, the Roper references our original Western pattern, but with a lower height originally developed for the Japanese market. For the launch of this style on Viberg.com we chose the versatile Snuff Calf Suede and paired it with a white Morflex Sole from Vibram Italy. The combination creates a casual, lightweight boot that is surprisingly wearable. Click through for the full feature and purchase the Roper Snuff Calf Suede here.
After experimenting with Goodyear Welted manufacturing in the 1960s, we were excited to bring the production method back to our factory full-time almost two years ago. Since that introduction, we have been diligently searching for the machinery necessary to produce Goodyear Welted products with a Channelled Insole, which we feel is the highest quality and most traditional version of this manufacturing method. We are pleased to announce that we have tracked down several vintage machines from the 1940s and are now able to produce Goodyear Welted footwear with a Channelled Insole in place of the typical canvas ribbing.
