In the 1970's our founder Edwin Viberg traded boot patterns with Bill Danner. In exchange for one of our classic work boots we received this hiking boot which we have produced ever since. Our Hiker features a whole-cut upper making it naturally waterproof and a distinct lace-to-toe system for support and easy access. 200 grams of Thinsulate has been added to the lining.

Horween’s signature Chromexcel leather uses a proprietary recipe that was developed more than 100 years ago and has remained mostly unchanged to this day. Chromexcel is a full-grain, combination tanned leather with a distinct pull-up and full aniline, hand rubbed finish. It has a soft temper and waxy feel, making it perfectly suited for footwear. We have been using heavyweight Chromexcel leather at Viberg for over a decade and its unmatched versatility has made it a staple in our offerings.
Chromexcel should be regularly wiped down with a damp cloth and buffed with conditioner and a horsehair brush.
For over 85 years we have been handcrafting some of the world’s best footwear. Third generation family owned and operated and proudly made in Canada.
