In the late 1960s we began producing several pull-on Western style boots in response to market demand. By the late 1970s we had discontinued most of these styles and shifted our focus towards our industrial logging boots. Taking inspiration from this period in our history, the Roper references our original Western pattern, but with a lower height originally developed for the Japanese market.

Horween’s signature Chromexcel leather uses a proprietary recipe that was developed more than 100 years ago and has remained mostly unchanged to this day. Chromexcel is a full-grain, combination tanned leather with a distinct pull-up and full aniline, hand rubbed finish. It has a soft temper and waxy feel, making it perfectly suited for footwear. We have been using heavyweight Chromexcel leather at Viberg for over a decade and its unmatched versatility has made it a staple in our offerings.
Chromexcel should be regularly wiped down with a damp cloth and buffed with conditioner and a horsehair brush.
For over 85 years we have been handcrafting some of the world’s best footwear. Third generation family owned and operated and proudly made in Canada.
